Panel Discussions Panel - Role of Parasites, Diseases and Pathogens on Laws Any disease or infection that is naturally transmissible from vertebrate animals to humans and vice-versa is classified as a zoonosis. Salmonella is just one of the many diseases or pathogens that use reptiles and amphibians as a vector. Related items such as feeder animals and insects may also act as a vector for these pathogens. These diseases often have the potential to cause illness and death in other animals and humans as well. This 2 hour panel discussion is to review the role of parasites, diseases and pathogens on laws regarding reptiles and amphibians, review issues with current or proposed regulations, and work together to determine and suggest resolutions. Afterwards participants will be allowed to "break out" into smaller groups to continue the discussion informally. If you know of specific examples of problems or issues with diseases or pathogens and laws on reptiles and amphibians we may list, please contact us. Panelists are invited by our panels commmittee. To suggest a panelist or to volunteer your services for our panels committee to help us determine the best panelists, please contact us. Proposed Topics
